becoming photogenic close upBECOMING PHOTOGENIC that was my big question a long time ago, well, actually 3 years ago. Do you know this frustrating feeling when you don’t look good enough in pictures while others do?

BECOMING PHOTOGENIC

Today I decided to share with you something personal. I had camera fears for many years. I’m sure most of you know the feeling of not being photogenic; it makes you feel frustrated when you know you look good but still you can’t show it to the camera while other people can. This subject bothered me for a lot of time until I decided to overcome it (on the year of 2013). I organized my first photo shoot spontaneously and since then I realized I love doing it, my camera fears were getting lower each time I did another photo shoot. Then I wanted to learn the tricks of it, I started investigating the issue, watching YouTube videos, reading about it, I also bought the book STUDY OF POSE by Coco Rocha which was very helpful. Also, I did more and more sessions with different photographers this way you learn new stuff and tips from them.

So if you have this problem too, and you are wondering about the same issue of becoming photogenic, here are some tips for you:

1. Always stand up straight

2. Head straight and chin up a bit

3. Never chin down (creates a double chin)

4. Each part of your body that gets closer to the camera will look larger.

5. Work on your angles, take selfies and try poses (one has to know his best poses, not everything fits to every one).

6. Find out what is your best side (left or right? Although you can use both sides if you practice hard and to photo shoots on High Frequency).

7. Work on your Facial expressions, it’s very important not just to take a nice picture but also to express some feeling. I try to think about something nice (taking a tan on the beach or walking on the runway while 1000 photographers take some shoots).

8. Free your mind, it sounds wired but if you want to look good and in natural pose you have to stop thinking about the way you look or wondering how the picture will look like at the end.

9. Don’t be afraid to express yourself (a lot of people don’t feel comfortable in front of the camera and then it looks strange on camera, sometime you can get wired facial expression.

10. Turn your hips away from the camera shoulders to the camera

11. Always wear high heels no matter what, it make you look taller.

12. Smile with your eyes.

13. When you take a profile shoot always pull your hair back otherwise it make your neck look shorter.
